Trainee Bosun
The Cirdan Sailing Trust is looking for a Bosun to work across their fleet of traditional sailing vessels.
Starting at the beginning of February 2024 you will help Cirdan get their boats ready for the sailing season before joining them on their voyages to change young people’s lives.
The Cirdan Sailing Trust conducts sail training voyages for disadvantaged young people from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. Due to this they are seeking a candidate with the motivation and energy to work with young people to develop their independence, resilience and confidence.
Cirdan will teach you everything that you need to know but it will be an advantage if you have some experience out on the water (preferably with another Organisation). Ideally you will hold the RYA Day Skipper and RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualifications. It is also vital that you have empathy with young people particularly those who have faced difficulties in life. The role is rich and varied and therefore Cirdan are looking for someone willing to learn and to progress. A hands on and practical mindset is essential.
Many of Cirdan’s bosuns go on to become Mates and Skippers both for Cirdan and other organisations. As this is a training position minimum wage applies. An enhanced DBS check and seafarers medical assessment (ENG1) will also be required for the successful applicant.
The contract for the successful candidate will begin in February 2024 until November 2024.
All applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
Salary – Minimum Wage
Application Process
