Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a leading maritime charity in lifelong learning and personal development and is the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation engaging some 15,000 young people over 400 Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK.  The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.

MSSC are seeking an Offshore Maintenance Manager who will support the afloat operations of the Sea Cadet Offshore Fleet.  In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Experience as a ship’s engineer
  • Maintenance support experience for a fleet or group of vessels (ideally power and sail), including those <300 tonnes
  • At least HNC or appropriate equivalent MN or RN professional qualification in engineering

  • Spending time at sea as an Engineer on a Sea Cadet Offshore vessel
  • Supporting Sea Cadet Offshore vessel engineers with advice and practical tasks
  • Planning and conducting deeper maintenance during winter refit periods
