Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a leading maritime charity in lifelong learning and personal development and is the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation engaging some 15,000 young people over 400 Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.
MSSC operates 11 training venues eight of these are dedicated as Boat Stations and are focused on the provision of high-quality training in Dinghy Sailing, Paddlesport Powerboating, Rowing and Windsurfing. MSSC’s Weymouth National Boat Centre and Regional Boat Stations work as part of the Inshore Boating team and within the Sea Cadet Learning Directorate. The overall objective is to provide professional support and coaching in support of our 400 volunteer units.
MSSC are seeking a Manager who will lead, inspire and be a driving force for high quality activity and training at our flagship facility based in Weymouth Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity and will see the successful applicant manage the centre’s delivery of watersports activities, as well as use of the shore based facilities such as climbing wall, shooting range, mountain bikes and marine engineering equipment.They will be instrumental in facilitating and delivering life-changing, positive on the water experiences for young people.
Hours of work each week will be variable but will average no more than 44 hours over 6 days per week. The post can be demanding and working hours are as determined by the training programme, which will include evening and weekend working. Full details on the MSSC website.
