Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, starting £24,000pa pro rata.

Details: The Cirdan Sailing Trust requires a skipper to work aboard it’s fleet for the 2022 season
starting at the beginning of February through until early November. The Trust’s vessels will
undertake a refit period during the months of February and March before the sailing season starts
at the beginning of April. Working under the guidance of the Fleet Manager, the successful
candidate will be expected to take a leading role during the refit period on one of the vessels.
During the sailing season, the Skipper will take responsibility of the safe operation of the vessel,
delivery of our Sail Training programme and maintenance of the vessels equipment.
The Trust, which has operated for over 35 years, provides young people, particularly those who
are disadvantaged in some way, with the opportunity to develop life skills through the challenge
and adventure of life at sea.
Requirements: Candidates should hold RYA Yachtmaster (Offshore or Ocean) with commercial
endorsement plus an ENG1 medical certificate. YMI / CI preferred.
Experience of large sailing vessels essential and knowledge of traditional gaff rigged
vessels is desirable.
Experience of commercial vessel requirements and boat maintenance is essential.
The ideal candidate will have an empathy with the youth of today and ideally have experience of
working with young people as they will be expected to interact with trainees to instruct,
encourage and motivate.
As a small charity, the successful candidate will need to be a team player with a positive attitude.
The successful applicants will hold or be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
